Politics: Russia and the West

#1
For some of you that are interested in what's going on in the world today I found this analysis of the past events happening in Ukraine and the rising tension between Russia and UN. I am very concerned about the future of my motherland and find it extremely hard to believe mass media as I think it is a part of government's propaganda to influence our minds. West is trying to put Russia on its knees while Russia wants to break free.

This is a long article but it gave me more answers about what's going on than this little they feed us on BBC news or Russian channels.

I'm personally more interested in the MAS370 story over this, but what I would like to say about this issue is that I would blame all of this on the economy of the world as a whole. The economy in the United States have yet to recover from the recession and that in a world like today, all it takes is one country to trip and fall for the whole world to fall with her. I think that if Ukraine had no problem with their economy, they would have been fine and that there would not have been a protest that caused blood shed. I just do not like the way some government take their actions, as an immigrant, I can almost see all the good and bad of every government in that there will always be conflict between the government and the governed in that as time pass, the governed change their mind quicker than the government can keep up. Thus, causing conflict. Of course in a perfect world, this will never happen, but we do not live in a perfect world do we? I do not know where your motherland is, I just hope that both parties find a way to settle this once and for all so that the future generations do not have to worry about this.

Have you guys been actually paying attention to what is going on there?? Russia is trying to expand, The current government there doesn't like the fact that a piece of the soviet union was given away by Kruschiev. Putin wants a return to the "glory days of Communism" Without the actual Communism part, Just the land Mass they used to have. The prior government head of Ukraine wanted to lend a hand in giving Putin what he wanted most, and old chunk of the USSR back, The people didn't like it, they revolted, the police killed them, The Prime Minister or President, (not sure what the head of state is there) Ran away like a scared little girl, and Russia said Fuck it, let's just take that chunk Back.

The USA DOES NOT, want to be the world police, They are tired of fighting everyone who is weak battles for them. They have their own problems at home, and the last thing they want is to get involved in a war with Russia. Russia is one of only 2 countries that would even stand a chance in hell of going toe to toe with the United States. China being the other. But on that same note, Somebody has to do something, and Unfortunately for the United States, they are the big kid on the block and they have to stop the bullying of smaller kids if they can.

My country is heavily involved in the condemning of Russian actions, and We are behind the USA every step of the way. And I for one am proud to be part of a bunch of countries that refuse to allow Bullies, Terrorists, and warmongers rule through fear and intimidation. What Putin and Russia have done is wrong, and one way or another it will be righted.

I'm from Russia, and we "russians" don't want wars. And we don't want to submiss to western notion of "peace" after nato builds more and more military bases to our borders. Ukraine was supposed to be the next link in a chain. We have pride, you know. Thanks for input. The changes are coming

That's how they show it yaya I follow American news as well I live in usa. To make it clear - we are not occupants. Crimean people voted for their fate. If Putin crosses Ukrainian borders he would loose people's support. My support. Don't believe everything they say on the news. I don't. They took sides. And they hold on to their sides both Russia and US and Nato not to loose a face whatever happens

After reading what you guys have said, why do I have a feeling that I am like a UN kind of guy? The only political issue that have affected my country is the PRC and ROC conflict, they have been going at each other for years since the end of the Chinese Civil War. The reason that I can see this is that I went to an event that was held by the Roman Catholic Church in Madrid, Spain, called JMJ 2011. In that event, I went to a Chinese mass and that the mass was being held by the Taiwanese group and that when they see the flag of PRC, they immediately start to speak things that aren't exactly bad, but they do not like the presents of the PRC in their area. So yeah... I personally just want this thing to end in that it has been going on for long enough that I start to get annoyed of this issue. Also, I don't know how China would say about this as they are part of the UN security council and given the tie that Russia and China has, it will be hard for the Chinese government to pull away from this. Heck!! On the issue of North Korean, if China pull the figurative plug on them, North Korea will almost immediately fall apart!! I just think that the UN need to mandate more international laws so that things like this will not happen in the future. I have seen too many conflicts between nations. In the end, I would like to say that I pray for the peaceful ending of this issue.

Just before I sign off this post, I would like to say that Ukraine best get themselves a president because the former president took the back door and left the country to fend for herself. A negative rep from my point of view.

Stolen from The Saker's blog

Current situation:

"It appears that the next 24 hours will be absolutely crucial for the future of the Ukraine. So far, these are the most important developments:

The following cities have seen uprisings taking place over the week-end: Kharkov, Slaviansk, Krasnyi Liman, Kramatorsk, Lugansk, Enakievo, Gorlovka, Donetsk, Khartsyzk, Ilovaisk, Mariupol. To get a feel for the spread, check out this map:

The second big development is the clear increase in the quality of the forces opposing the takeover of the eastern Ukraine by the revolutionary regime in Kiev. Up until Friday, most of the demonstrators were civilians, "armed" with bars, stones, Molotov cocktails, bats, etc. and, frankly, their barricades looked pretty lame. Over the week end some better equipped forces have appeared, this could be due to the seizure of weapons caches from the SBU, but my guess is that there is a traffic going on between Crimea and the eastern Ukraine. Some Crimeans have said so openly. Furthermore, it is very likely that there are also volunteers from Russia, probably with military backgrounds, helping out the locals. The barricades look far better built now, they are over 6 feet high and they seem much better protected.

The Kiev regime and the USA have accused Russia of having GRU agents involved. Well, I am pretty sure that they are there - they would be stupid not to - but to present the spreading insurrection as the result of the Kremlin's covert operations is rather silly. While I would expect the SVR and GRU to try to help, they are going to try to stay several steps removed in order to avoid a potential political scandal for Russia. But could the GRU be providing equipment for Russian volunteers in eastern Ukraine. Yes, that is definitely possible, thought not necessarily the most likely explanations. The fact is that nobody really knows.

There are some pretty consistent rumors that the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John O. Brennan, has covertly travelled to Kiev and that he is the one who told the regime to put down the rebellion in the East. Maybe. Maybe not. What is certain is that the SBU has been run by the CIA since 22 years already and that the authorities would never have gone ahead with this plan without getting Uncle Sam's approval. Since the offensive basically failed, it appears that the US has told its Ukrainian allies to "cool it", either to try to negotiate or just to win some time. Whatever may be the case, both Iatseniuk and Turchinov have now promised a referendum on the future of the Ukraine and all the "legitimate demands" of the East. Nobody trusts them (Turchinov had just announced an "anti-terrorist" operation!), but this is nevertheless a *huge* development. At the very same time, there are repeated reports about a secret order by Turchinov to crack down on the eastern Urkaine and that Andrei Parubii (Maidan), Valentin Nalivaichenko (SBU) and Vasilii Krutov (Military) have formed special headquarters to coordinate the repression.

Finally, there are a lot of reports of large columns of military units moving towards the East. They even include artillery and heavy multiple rocket launchers. My hope is that these are moved to the eastern Ukraine in order to try to stop a Russian military intervention. I am not saying that this would work - it would not - but that I hope that this is the plan. I don't want to even contemplate the possibility that these systems might be used against the civilian population."

"What do you see on this video? Russian secret agents?

According to Obama, the Kerry, Samantha Power, Jen Psaki and the rest of the US 1%ers, most members of the UN Security Council and according to the EU clowns at the OSCE or PACE, what you are seeing in this video is: "Russian agents creating chaos were there was none and spreading hatred".

According to the freaks of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, what you see are terrorists.

According to me, what you see is simple civilians willing to stand up in front of a tank with their car and their bodies to stop it. What I hear them say is "who the hell do you plan to shoot at? Stop the engine! Stop the engine! What are you pulling your assault rifle out for? Do you think that if we jump on your tank it will protect you?". Judging by the copious amount of cursing the civilians are really very mad because they are suspecting that this tank is headed for the city of Slaviansk. I would add that the poor tank crew is clearly frightened and ashamed and the tank commander does the only right thing: he climbs out of the tank, begs to crowd not to touch it (he is personally responsible for it) and tries to convince the crowd that they did not plan to shoot anybody. The tank commander looks like a nice young guy placed in an impossible situation, and I hope that the civilians will understand that. They are angry because initially the tank crew tried to avoid them. The good news is that I clearly hear a voice saying "stop screaming! stop screaming!" to try to cool down the angry crowd. And no, I don't see any Spetsnaz GRU in disguise or any sign of Russians at all.

Decide for yourself what you see:

" (The Saker)

Yesterday United Nations Security Council had held talks regarding the current situation in Ukraine and possible ways of deescalating the conflict with all sides having an opportunity to express their opinion:
