[ISSUE] Replacement laptop battery

#1
I picked up a Sony Vaio Notebook for cheap from a friend about a month ago. He told me the only concerning aspect about the laptop is the battery and charger. Well earlier today the charger blew up, and the battery wasn't strong enough to hold a charge for more than 15 minutes without being plugged in. I found and purchased a replacement battery charger on amazon, but now I want to also purchase a battery. I am not too savy when it comes to computer/laptop hardware, so it's not been easy for me to find one that I know will do the job. Sony has discontinued production of laptops and desktops so I'm sure this is also a reason it has been hard to find the part. The laptop specs are as follows; Model name is VPC-EB190X, service tag is A222GUJ5, and serial number is 3113758. The model number for the battery itself is VGP-BPS22, and specs are 11.1V/3500 mAh/39Wh. Is there anyway someone can give me some hints, tips, recommendations, or advice on purchasing this battery. I found a couple online but I don't want to buy the wrong one and have to send it back and start over. I'd like to get the right one the first time and avoid the headache of sending it back and forth until I get the right one.

This is one of the ones I found on amazon, not sure if it will work though?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

lol what do you mean by your charger "blew up" ? i believe their was a big issue with these battery's and chargers overheating so i think they lowered the voltage and amps to help prevent failures..., not too sure since i don't know anybody with one.. but anyway here these are a little bit cheaper,

The charger made a poof sound and sparks flew out of the wires where they connect to the convertor. There was a small fray in the wires at this spot which obviously helped cause or did cause the issue. And yes the laptop itself gets VERY hot quickly. Thanks for the links phaze.

Some of the links show batteries with different specs than the current one I have. Should they still be compatible? For example; mine has 3500 mAh where these have 4400 mAh | mine has 11.1V and these have 10.8 Volts | mine has 39 wH and others have 49 wH.

Thanks again.

getting the same exact battery would be most ideal.. specially when it comes to voltage. Therefore, according to what u have stated above, I found the same exact battery which would work perfectly on your laptop.

Check this place and see if you find a battery that fits your notebook specs. I also have a sony vaio and yes, the battery life is not that great. i didnt knew about this place earlier, otherwise i would have ordered from here and had to order mine over ebay and it took more than a month to ship since it was coming all the way from China.

Hope this helps!
